St Laurence Church Hawkhurst Christmas Tree Festival

St Laurence Church Hawkhurst Christmas Tree Festival 2023

Once again St Laurence Church in Hawkhurst hosted its Bi-Annual Christmas Tree Festival and as customary now a tree was entered on behalf of the Mortimer Society by Trustee, Keith Lagden and his wife Kate, in memory of their late daughter In law Laura who passed away back in August 2018.

Kate is joint organizer of the event that has become a firm favourite in the village calendar!  This year we were delighted to receive a substantial array of different decorations made by residents at Frindsbury House.  The tree was duly covered in the lovely festive decorations which can be seen in all their splendour in the photo below.

This year a visit was made by three residents who had all contributed to the effort.  Keith & Kate were delighted to welcome them along with four fabulous staff to enjoy the event.

It appears that the journey over was full of laughter and frivolity.  During their two hour visit a lot of fun and laughter was had by the whole group.  Drinks and delicious cakes were enjoyed by all and some lovely Christmas gifts were purchased by the residents.  After buying tickets for the raffle there was much hope of winnings appearing at Frindsbury House soon.  Sadly none of the tickets produced any winners.  Better luck next festival!

It was a wonderful way to enjoy a different type of trip out.  Everyone at St Laurence were thrilled to welcome their guests to the event.  A special thank you to the smashing staff members who helped to make this a very memorable afternoon, along with Amanda for organising it!
