Our cousin Sandra lived at Frindsbury House for the last six years before her death on 13/12/2024. Before becoming a resident Sandra attended the activities suite for over a year in daycare to assist with her transition into full-time care. Sandra had Downs syndrome with associated learning difficulties and early onset Dementia. It was never our wish or intention that Sandra go into full-time care but she sadly outgrew our home and the care we were able to give her. We had a long and fraught battle with Social Services to obtain funding for Sandra to have a home that she so deserved, we won and she moved in.The standard of care she received has been of the highest quality and the enrichment of her life was more than we could have dreamed of. Every one of the 64 staff employed at her home ensured she was known to all, cared for, and loved. You have a team at Frindsbury House to be proud of and we can not praise the home and its care enough. We would particularly like to mention and thank your Manager Amanda Butt. She has known Sandra from her early days at Frindsbury House and has always ensured that the care and compassion shown to Sandra was also extended to both my sister and myself. She has always been approachable, kept us fully informed about all aspects of Sandra's care, and understood our passion that Sandra be kept in her home and nursed to the end by people who understood and truly loved her. We will always be indebted to the Mortimer Society, its ethos, standards, and compassion as well as the caliber of staff employed.
